On May 11th, 2024 we had the wonderful experience to participate in an International celebration of Black Fae Day with folks across the world! For this event, Dena Patterson of DP True Serenity--a Little Rock, Arkansas holistic wellness practitioner, yoga instructor, and healer--and arkansawblk of the Urban Wildlife Haven--a Little Rock, AR multi-dimensional creative and restorative facilitator--co-hosted a Fairy-inspired Tea Party!
This fairy-inspired tea party was an idea birthed and organized by arkansawblk , yet inspired by the Black Fae Day Founder Jasmine La Fleur. Dena and arkansawblk put their creative hearts together to quilt an unforgettable experience. They wanted to create a day that young people and adults could enjoy together. Individuals were able to pick their own fairy wings from a divserity of options, they could decorate themselves with jewelry, crowns, elf ears, and even picked their own flower-inspired fairy names.
After the fairy-transformation, they shared the communal space with tea party snacks like fresh fruits, vegetables, chicken salad, vegan cupcakes, tea, and more! Each fairy was challenged to introduce themselves to one new person to help foster community building and break down silos. Once, the tea party began and the fairies ate their snacks, the young fairies and adult fairies went to their separate activities. The young fairies went outdoors to enjoy the bouncy houses, face painting, and painting of suncatchers. The adult fairies spent their time crafting their own flower clips and participating in a mindfulness session. The party continued with shared love, laughter, and good vibes.
To close the gathering, each adult fairy was encouraged to write an affirming note to another, then they were to choose a note to take home with them. The young fairies whom completed their Fairy Scavenger hunt were able to pick their own treasures from the Treasure Chest. We cannot wait to do this event again next year with more fairies and continue to create uplifting spaces for people.
